And the World Stood Still
If the internet went down tomorrow, would you know how to adapt? If technology went silent, would you feel trapped? Would you be able to thrive, If all the data was suddenly scrapped? Would you be able to connect? Would you be able to breathe? If the technology we depend on, Suddenly ceased to be? It would certainly bring the world to its knees. Would you be able to make friends? Would you know where to go? Would you be able to buy groceries? Would you be able to buy clothes? Would you be able to live, If the world stood “still.” It makes you think, at that kind of brink, would we be able to cope? Or would we lose all hope? If your answer is no, then you need to search your soul. What do you want? How would you fill that digital hole? If the answer is yes, then, the world stood still, and continue to connect with life, you will.
I was thinking about many things, as is my nature - feeling disconnected in a digital world, relying on social platforms, and thinking back to any number of dystopian movies, books, and TV shows. We always seem to say that if we lost all technology, the world as we know it would collapse, and I suspect that is probably accurate.
But what if we just lost the internet?
Would we know how to connect as people? How would we fill our time? How would we adapt? How would businesses adapt?
Our way of life would certainly be brought to its knees, but the question becomes:
Will the world stand in stillness, lost and disconnected —or — will the world (and humanity) still stand and adapt, reconnecting to what’s important at our core?
If you have made it this far, I appreciate your time. Thank you for reading.
